SCDOT uses Latex Modified Concrete Inlays to Repair 16 Bridges on I-77

During the spring of 2023, the South Carolina Department of Transportation repaired over 24,000 sy of bridge deck area on 16 different bridge decks on I-77 just outside of Columbia, SC. Hydrodemolition Surface Preparation and Latex Modified Concrete Inlays were used to make these repairs per the SCDOT 726 Specifications – Hydrodemolition & LMC Overlays. The work had to be done fast. The SCDOT allowed only two 9-day closures to perform over $12,000,000 of bridge work. Please enjoy the followings videos which detail the key elements of the project and will show how large quantities of long-term bridge deck repairs can be performed during short construction time periods. The new LMC Inlays are expected to add 25 years of service life to the repaired bridge deck sections. previous LMC Inlays placed in this corridor have already exceeded 25 years of service life.
