Hydro-technologies implements a Fast Track Hydro-Demolition Method to quickly prepare a highway bridge deck prior to the placement of a concrete overlay. The hydrodemolition robot operates over the entire surface of the bridge deck to remove all deteriorated and delaminated concrete and to provide a highly bondable surface for the new overlay.
There are three advantages of hydrodemolition over conventional methods:
- Time Savings: Total surface hydrodemolition is much faster and more productive than concrete removal with jackhammers, therefore project durations are minimized and disruption to the general traveling public is kept to a minimum. Concrete demoltion can also be performed during night and weekend closures if high traffic volume is an issue.
- Quality: The Fast Track Hydro-Demolition Method selectively removes delaminated and chloride contaminated concrete and avoids the unnecessary removal of sound concrete. The rough surface left by this process provides an excellent bond. The original concrete surface and any exposed reinforcing are cleaned and ready for new latex modified concrete overlay.
- Cost Savings: The shorter closure time reduces the cost of construction traffic control, work zone safety measures and road user costs. Deteriorated and chloride contaminated concrete is removed reducing maintenance costs and extending the service life of the new overlay.
FAST TRACK WEEKEND AND OVERNIGHT WORK
Latex Modified Concrete Overlays are excellent structural repairs for bridge decks. The service life of the bridge deck can be extended by 25 years because the existing concrete deck facilities are preserved by the “low porosity characteristics” of the Latex Modified Concrete.
Hydro-Technologies, Inc. has performed The Fast Track Hydro Demolition Method in preparation for numerous overlay projects in Ohio, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, West Virginia, Virginia and other states where “Time is of the essence” on bridge deck repair projects.
Typical Fast Track Hydrodemolition Weekend and Night Schedule
Typical Fast Track Hydrodemolition Weekend work is performed from 7 PM on Friday to 6 AM on Monday morning.
Typical Fast Track Hydrodemolition nightly work is performed from 6 PM to 6 AM nightly.
By using Latex Rapidset Concrete, traffic can be on your bridges by 6 AM every Monday morning for weekend work, and 6 AM every morning for nightly work.
All construction equipment and materials are removed as to not interfere with the traveling public or local business.
